This year Professor George Emil Palade would have celebrated his 100th anniversary. We invite you to come and honor his name in our next SOMS session on November 9. Researcher, explorer of the microscopic universe, Palade is one of the biggest discoverers in cellular biology.
We are having as guestsConf. dr. Octavian Buda – History of medicine – and Prof. dr. Leon Zagrean – Physiology and Neuroscience – whom will guide us to the past of the right up called “the most influential biologist of all times”.

We also have a surprise for you! Mr. Titi Jalba, representative of Thomson Reuters, Science Direct (on-line platform Elsevier) and Clinical Key,will hold a workshop of how to use the prestigious data bases.

Scientific Opportunity for students: October 18-19, 2012

The National Neuroscience Society of Romania is organizing between October 18th and 19th 2012 the “3rd Conference of the National Neuroscience Society of Romania” together with the International CEERC-IBRO session on the subject of “New methods and approaches in Neuroscience research ” at Carol Davila University, Bucharest, Romania.

The conference is a great opportunity for all researchers, doctors and students interested in neuroscience and neurology to update on novelties and research tendencies at national and international level. There will be also opportunity to create basis for future projects, clinical studies and scientific collaborations.

The jury was composed of Scientific Prorector Prof. Dr. Dragos Vinereanu, Dr. Corin Badiu and Library Director Ms. Monica Mocanu.

Prizes offered by SOMS and Carol Davila University Library” were books, that have been chosen by the winners from the Book Fair held in the University as well as books gifted by Professor Dr. I. B. Iamandescu.

Presenters also became SOMS active members. In addition, participants in the contest received as prize from the Romanian Society of Internal Medicine free access to the National Conference “Evidence-Based Medicine”.

Workshop on managing bibliographic data with “Reference Manager” was held by Associate Professor Dr. Corin Badiu:

The public had 15 computers available specially prepared for the workshop to familiarize themselves with this extremely useful software coordinated by Associate Professor Dr. Corin Badiu.

The event ended with trainings on E-scan (the machine will now be available in the reading rooms) and methods to access scientific information offered by representatives of ProQuest Hospital Collection, American Chemical Society, Key Clinical Dentistry & Oral Sciences Source:

The 9th edition of the National Conference “Evidence-Based Medicine”

Venue: Bucureşti, Crystall Ballrooms Palace

From Nobember 1st to the 3rd, the Romanian Society of Internal Medicine is organizing at “Palatul Patriarhiei” the 9th edition of the National Conference “Evidence-Based Medicine” the scientific meeting will be attended by over 700 physicians throughout the country (doctors, residents, medical practitioners, hospital chiefs, professors and faculty members).

The conference represents a way of development and formation of the best specialists in internal medicine and a formal framework to present information on the latest developments in the field. Conference program can be found on this website www.srmi.ro.

In parallel with the Conference there will be a big exhibition with over 25 pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies presenting their products in a separate area.

On November 1st there will be pre-conference lectures.

In occasion of the Carol Davila University Library Day, SOMS invites you to promote your research!

Not yet a SOMS member? Would you like to become part of the elite group of students doing research?

Send us the abstract of an original project to which you contributed. You have a limit of maximum 300 words and deadline until September 25 (included). By sending your abstract you sign-up to compete with an oral presentation for surprise prizes and a lovely audience.

A jury will select the abstracts that will participate in the competition depending on their quality. The best presentations will be rewarded by SOMS in partnership with The Romanian Society of Internal Medicine and Carol Davila University Library.
