SOMS

1. The Scientific Organization Of Medical Students – SOMS came into being in1987 and it achieved a legal status in April 1991;  it is the only student organization dealing with exclusively scientific activities and having no connection with any union within ”Carol Davila “ University.

2. SOMS was from the very beginning and continues to be quite minute into selecting its members, being interested only in those medical students with steady scientific activities proved through papers and publications, students with a high professional standard that render it credit. As an outcome of the thorough selection that lies at the bottom of SOMS ,most of the ex-SOMS members are teachers or are involved in research programs within famous centers from our country or abroad.

3. Ever since its establishment, SOMS not simply attended but actively took part in steadily carried on Scientific Communication Sessions and carried out its own review called IATROS, between 1990-1998, heaving its editorial office within the “Medicine College”. SOMS proved its practicability by taking part in the organization of four Scientific Congresses of Medicine Students from Sinaia (1993) & Bucharest  (1994,1998,2003)

4.Through its projects and activities, SOMS consistently pursues to put into practice the concept that underlie its creation, by trying to adopt its young members’ inputs to the reality of the scientific life from Romania, whose improvement and evolution are the main goal of SOMS.
