BAW 2011 Competition: Preliminary ranking

Thank you for applying to the BAW Competition!

We received 16 applications. To select the 10 abstracts to be presented orally during the BAW Competition on Friday March 18th 2011, we asked for help Andrei Ilie (PhD student, Oxford University) to evaluate them using scores of 1-16 (1 – the best). The applications were sent for evaluation without author and affiliation data. The abstracts in a preliminary ranking can be foud HERE.

The score of this preliminary ranking is just a fraction of the final score. The oral presentation is the most important and, thus, it will decide the winners!

We are waiting for you to confirm your attendance to the BAW Competition until Wednesday March 16th 2011 . You can write us at contact@soms.ro or use the online form!

The presentations have to be no longer than 10 minutes, Power Point slides, with visible fonts. Other suggestions can be found on our resources page.

This is the 8th consecutive year when the National Neurosciences Society of Romania organizes in partnership with SOMS Brain Awareness Week (BAW) events with international participation at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest.

MAIN EVENT – Scientific competition about “The Therapeutic Use of Cyberspace” (Friday, March 18th 2011; 3-6 p.m.; Great Amphitheatre)

Coordinator: Prof. Leon Zăgrean (Carol Davila Univ.)

Students from various universities in Bucharest (Medicine, Biology, Psychology, Sociology, Computer Science etc.) are encouraged to send using the formular below (by March 14th) a scientific abstract (max 400 words) for a 10-minute Power Point presentation related to “The Therapeutic Use of Cyberspace” (e.g.: cybertherapy for shyness, emotional trauma or for smokers, alcoholics, drug addicts trying to quit etc). The best 10 abstracts will be selected (by March 15th) to be presented as 10-minute oral presentations during the main event, in a brainstorming session. A broad panel of invited local and international experts including neuroscientists, physicians and psychologists will participate to a final debate and the best three presentations will be awarded.

The abstracts can be based on personal ideas or on other ideas from the scientific literature/Internet and their creativity will be considered.
